The NISE 3270 from Nexcom is a fan-less industrial PC which has been designed for applications within factory environments.
Equipped with two RS422/RS485 and RS232 interfaces with automatic flow control and isolation up to 2000 VDC and 15 KV ESD protection, NISE 3270 is a suitable computing platform for process automation, monitoring and control. The system is based on an ETX modular design and is equipped with an onboard 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and 1 Gbyte DDR2 memory. To enable NISE 3270 to communicate with a variety of external devices, the platform is equipped with a number of I/O interfaces including two RS232 and RS422/485 (automatic flow control and isolation) interfaces, four USB ports, two LAN ports, one PCMCIA socket and one VGA port.
Additional expansion is available via PCI or via an optional upgrade kit which can be attached to the base unit to allow functions such as CD-ROM, PC/104 or PCI 104 to be added. Furthermore, an optional NVRAM socket is reserved for memory backup SRAM, which offers optional dedicated plug-in NVRAM memory. It can support compact flash and a 2.5 inch HDD. The platform can run off voltages from +9 to +36 VDC.
Other products in the NISE range include solutions based on powerful Intel Core 2 Duo CPU's, right through to lower cost platforms designed for entry-level application. Nexcom also has a range of fan-less platforms aimed at vertical markets such as automatic fare collection, in-vehicle computing, POS/kiosk and digital signage. |
